DBS Asian Insights Conference

Thank you for being a part of the DBS Asian Insights Conference 2016. This year, we had the privilege of hosting over 1100 business and thoughts leaders from Singapore and the region. A stellar line-up of speakers from DBS and across the region delved into topics such as Asia’s Future Trajectory, Reinventing Singapore and Asia’s Economic Integration. A highlight of the event – DBS Asia Leadership Dialogue featured the 15th President of the Philippines, Benigno Aquino III who shared his insights on pertinent issues facing Asia’s development and sustained growth.

Piyush Gupta

Chief Executive Officer, DBS Group Holdings

Mr. Piyush Gupta is Chief Executive Officer and Director of DBS Group.

DBS is a leading financial services group in Asia, with more than 280 branches across 18 markets. Headquartered in Singapore, DBS is the market leader in the country with over four million customers and with a growing presence in Greater China, Southeast Asia and South Asia. DBS is at the forefront of leveraging digital technology to shape the future of banking, and has been named “World’s Best Digital Bank” by Euromoney. The bank has also been recognised for its leadership in the region, having been conferred “Asia’s Best Bank” by The Banker and Euromoney, and “Asian Bank of the Year” by IFR Asia. The bank has also been named “Safest Bank in Asia” by Global Finance for seven consecutive years from 2009 to 2015.

Prior to joining DBS, Piyush was Citigroup’s Chief Executive Officer for South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Piyush’s external appointments include serving as the Deputy Chairman of SPRING Singapore and on the boards of Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, the Institute of International Finance, Washington, The Institute of Banking and Finance, Dr. Goh Keng Swee Scholarship Fund, and the MasterCard Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa Regional Advisory Board. He is also Chairman of Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics Advisory Board, a council member of The Association of Banks in Singapore, the Asian Bureau of Finance and Economic Research, Managing Council member of Indian Business-leaders’ Roundtable (under SINDA), and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Asia Society.

Dr. Mari Pangestu

Former Trade Minister, Indonesia

Mari Pangestu is the Former Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries for the Republic of Indonesia. She is the first female Chinese Indonesian to hold a cabinet position in Indonesia. She is also a member of the International Council on Women’s Business Leadership, the UNCTAD Secretary General’s Panel of Eminent Persons, the Advisory Board of the Global Competitiveness Forum (WEF), and the Network of Global Agenda Councils.

Born in Jakarta, Pangestu obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Australian National University, and her Doctorate in economics from the University of California at Davis, United States, in 1986. She served as Indonesia’s Minister of Trade from 2004 to 2011. Prior to this she was active in various trade forums such as PECC and is one of the foremost economics experts in Indonesia. She was an instructor in the Faculty of Economics in the University of Indonesia.

As an economist, she is widely published in the Indonesian and international media. She serves on the Board of External Editors of the Asian Journal of Business (University of Michigan) and Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies (Australian National University). She has also served as the co-coordinator of the Task Force on Poverty and Development for the United Nations Millennium Project from 2002 to 2004.

Dr. Rainer Feurer

Senior Vice President, Sales Development & Customer Relations, BMW Group

Dr. Rainer Feurer (born 1966) holds both a German and English degree in European Business Administration, a degree in Marketing, an MBA and a PhD in Strategic Management.

He joined BMW in 1999 as a project leader for the vehicle process Online Ordering. Between 2002 and 2004, Dr. Feurer had the role of Vice President Technology Management Group Logistics, Programme Planning and Ordering before he became Senior Vice President Corporate Strategy and Planning, Environment in 2007. Since April 2013 he is responsible for Sales Development, Customer Relations. Dr. Feurer is also a member of the Board of Directors of BMW Brilliance Automotive Ltd., the BMW JV in China.
